Monthly Newsletter for December 2009
Volume 4, Issue 11
Greetings,
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving starts a parade of Holiday events; Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Years. Accompanying these holiday events are family and friends. My wish for all American Legion Family Members and Friends is that the holiday season brings you happiness, friendship and love. Let us remember those that we have lost and those that are sick, lets especially remember the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families. In a conversation I had this last weekend I was reminded of the responsibility that yesterday's veteran had for us, and the commitment that we as veterans today have to the future. It makes no difference which Veteran's Organization you are affiliated with we, as Veterans must secure the position of the veterans to come. So please support your organization and their goals.
I would like to remind all Post members about the annual Post Christmas Dinner. On the morning of the 25th of December, Christmas Day, Post and Community Members gather and donate their time and money to cook, package and deliver a Christmas turkey dinner with all the fixings, to folks in our community that are sick, alone or less fortunate. This has been a long-standing tradition with the Post. Anyone who knows the name and address of someone who needs a Christmas Cheer or if you would like to join the Post in this endeavor by donation, please contact the post.
God bless you all. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
For God and Country
Tony Alvarez, Commander Post 130
Welcome back to our members and friends from the north. We are very fortunate to have you spend your winters here with us. The lounge has entertainment every Friday and Saturday Night and we hope you'll join us for Friday Fish Fry as well as Breakfast and Brunch on Sundays (check the calendar for specifics).
Remember your 2010 dues should be paid by 31 December. Please renew now to ensure your continued access to the Post and all it has to offer.
We're having Spaghetti Dinner from 4:30pm to 6pm before each general meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
Thanks go out to Cutty and the great volunteers of the house committee for all the maintenance and extra cleaning they get done. These volunteers do a great job.
We'll be needing kind hearted volunteers to help with our Christmas Dinner program: cooking, packing and delivering to our many needy and shut-in neighbors that may be alone at Christmas time.
Have a great Christmas holiday.
For God and Country,
Carl Pretz, Adjutant.

Hey — Happy Holidays!!!!
What a great month November was for the Auxiliary!
The Paws for Patriots Rummage sale was a terrific success, Breakfast is picking up, Brunch is doing well and we had a great Roast Beef dinner that sold out.
Veteran's Day was incredible and very heartfelt, all were there in uniform and what a sight to see. We gave flags to the class from Up the Grove Elementary School at the ceremony and we watched as they waved them.
Don't forget Breakfast with Santa on December 12th. This program is to help our local less fortunate children to have some time with Santa, a breakfast and a toy.
Thanks to all that have volunteered their time and donated items for our programs.
It's holiday season and the roads are busy so be careful out there, Have a Great Holiday and a Happy New Year!!
Love you all!
Candy Alvarez, President Unit 130
We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We're all looking forward to a joyous Christmas holiday season. Don't forget that we have entertainment every Friday and Saturday and we'd love to see all of you enjoying yourselves and sharing in our community spirit.
Please note that the lounge will be closed on Christmas day so that we may enjoy the holiday with our friends and families.
Don't forget the New Year's Party...we always have a great time and are looking forward to seeing everyone there!
Happy Holidays!!

I trust we've all enjoyed our Thanksgiving holidays and are ready to take on the turn of the calendar to 2010 before long.
Let's have a great showing at the Labelle Christmas Parade which will be held on Friday the 4th of December. All riders wishing to attend should meet at Post 130 at 4:45pm for the short ride to the staging area.
Remember that our Post, Auxiliary and SAL will be working together along with other volunteers to provide Christmas meals to the less fortunate. ALR Chapter 130 members are encouraged to support this act of true charity by joining together on Christmas Day to help make the holiday a special time for those in need.
Contact any officer of the Post, Auxiliary, SAL or ALR if you'd like to help out.
Ride safe and happy holidays!

Hoping everyone had a great Thanksgiving and can now prepare for Christmas.
The Sons of the American Legion food drive for the Salvation Army has gone great, with 7 boxes already delivered and hopefully more to come. Thanks to Aqua Isles for all they have given.
The planning for a Pool SHOOT-OUT is coming together and details will be in next month's news letter. Start practicing as it would be great to have the winner from Post 130.
Enjoy the Christmas Holidays and we look forward to giving away Christmas Dinners for those in need.
God Bless Our Military
Craig Bartoshuk, 2nd Vice Commander
Squadron 130
Happy holidays,
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
Christmas will be here soon and the post could use your support on the up coming Christmas dinner. Last year we were able to serve over 534 Christmas dinners to our community. It takes a lot of work, planning and plenty of volunteers to make this program happen.
Being involved will definitely help you understand the meaning of, "It's more blessed to give than to receive".
