Monthly Newsletter for January 2010
Volume 5, Issue 01
Greetings,
First of all, a very Happy New Year to everyone.
So here we are at the end of another year and the beginning of a new one. It certainly has been an exciting year and I hope for a better year for everyone, especially for our troops. Post 130 ended the year by making a little history. On Christmas morning Post 130 and community volunteers with the generous donation from many local business and individuals cooked served and delivered 507 meals to members of our community. Now for the history making part; Post 130 took on the Christmas Meals Program 20 years ago, in 1989. At that time Post 130 prepared and delivered 184 meals. Congratulations and many thanks to all that started in 1989 and all that have participated in this program throughout the years. Because of you Post 130 is able to help so many.
Thank you!
For God and Country
Tony Alvarez, Commander Post 130
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and that this New Year is great for all. Remember that the lounge will be checking member's ids, please don't get angry, the lady's are just doing their job. I will try and resolve membership cards as soon as they come in so be patient, if you don't want your lounge privileges interrupted ask the bartender on duty for a receipt when you pay you dues and that receipt will be proof you are up to date. I want to wholeheartedly thank all of you for the support that Post 130 gets from it's members and the community.
Thank you.
For God and Country,
Carl Pretz, Adjutant.

Hey Happy New Year!!!!
December was another successful month!
Breakfast with Santa was so much fun and all the kids that attended received gifts from Santa and Breakfast, we also distributed other toys to families in need for Christmas.
Roast Beef Dinner was another success and we are considering having more. Breakfast and Brunch are still doing well and we hope things will pick up even more in January.
We also had fun before Christmas baking cakes for Christmas morning and some of us also helped serving and packaging all the meals to be delivered Christmas.
We made our memberships goals in December - Great Job!
Thanks to all the volunteers who helped with all our events this month, your help is greatly appreciated!
To all Members, please have a prosperous and healthy New Year!
Love,
Candy Alvarez, President Unit 130
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
The lounge Christmas party was a success. Plenty of food, give-aways and very enjoyable - thanks to everyone for the covered dishes.
Paula, again thank you for decorating the lounge. As always you outdid yourself. It looked great!
The Commander, the Post officers, the Auxiliary, SAL and Riders are all working very hard to make this a great year. Please come out and support your Post. They can always use more volunteers.
The House Committee has worked hard this year to keep the Post and Lounge in good shape. thanks to Cutty, Costa, Mims, Gary and Allen.
Happy New Year everyone. Hope to see you all soon,
Your Bartenders
Happy New Year to all!
As we start 2010, let's all remember our troops near and far, and keep them in our thoughts and prayers. May our conflicts the world over end soon and may all our heroes be returned home safely.
Upcoming ALR Chapter 130 events include the Mystery Run on 31 January (Ride Captain: Bill Davis) and the Swamp Cabbage Festival (27-28 February). Our friends from Events x D'Zign will be attending the next ALR general meeting on 27 January so that we can discuss the Swamp Cabbage event. I urge all members to attend and to help make the 2010 Swamp Cabbage Festival the best it's ever been.
Planning is underway for a multi-chapter series of runs to support the American Legion Legacy Scholarship - the Legacy Scholarship funds the college educations for children of veterans who died on or since 11 September 2001. I'm looking forward to chapter support in aiding this great cause.

Happy New Year
With the beginning of a New Year I'm reflecting on why we are Sons of the American Legion. We don't have war stories to tell, we have not been bombed or shot at. We belong to the Son's of the Legion to give our support to our Military Men and Women and those who so bravely defended our freedoms, Our Veterans.
God Bless Our Military
Craig Bartoshuk, 2nd Vice Commander
Squadron 130
Hello everyone, our Christmas dinner was a great success serving our community. I would like to thank our post for providing 20 meals to employees of Oakbrook of LaBelle, our local nursing home and thanks to our Auxiliary for providing Christmas presents for their young children. It was most appreciated. I'm looking forward to the New Year. God bless everyone who volunteered their time Christmas day. Thank you again for your time and effort.
