Dana • Howard • Weekley

On 13 July 1944, American Legion Post 130 was organized in LaBelle, FL. It was decided to name the new Post Dana-Howard-Weekley in honor of the first three western Hendry County men to give their lives in service to their country, during World War II.

Edwin L. Dana, US Navy, went down with his ship at the Battle of the Coral Sea in 1942.

Homer S. Howard, US Army, was killed during the second wave of the Salerno Invasion in 1943.

Pharis E. Weekley, US Army Air Corps, went down with his plane over Rumania's Ploesti Oil Fileds in 1943.
